Drawing is the lifeblood of what I do. Even if sometimes it means that much time is spent and money not earned whilst I am immersing myself in Observational drawing; it is essential to all I do toward a fresh portfolio. Here in these small observations I have explored aspects of the ‘England I love’ whilst considering the political dramas taking place in 2008 when the recession hit. It seemed very appropriate to take a look at them again in light of today’s national challenges and the B-word that won’t be mentioned here!
So as the name of this blog implies; life as an Illustrator does indeed mean receiving ‘sketchy capital’. It isn’t a life of big bucks and privileges or even financial predictability. Yet, I clearly remember whilst I was sat drawing in this little bronze coloured sketchbook in Central London amongst the grand statues, tall towers and wide river, it certainly seems worthwhile and totally fulfilling to me, no matter what challenges lay ahead.
