MODEL SHIPS  by  Steven Lush, ASMA

I began building model ships in 1978 which was sparked by a visit of the Tall Ships to Boston in 1976. I started with a simple kit which gradually led to large and more complex projects. Many state that they do not have the patience for such an endeavor and ask if I have the patience. My response is that I find it not a matter of patience but one of passion! I truly get lost in my model work and time literally flies by! While working I am continually thinking of the life of the actual vessel that I am modeling and the men that crewed them. My models act as inspiration for many of my marine watercolors. I believe that this "other art" of mine will be with me the rest of my life!
